Beet Root requires moderate rainfall and thrives in deep and well drained, loose, loamy soils, 16 – 27 degrees Celsius temperature in 1500 – 2200 metres above sea level altitudes.
Beet root leaves, that nutritionists say contain vitamin A, can be used as vegetables. The fields in which beet root is grown should be well watered and free of weeds. A farmer can harvest 5 – 9 tonnes of beet root per hectare. To keep long, it is recommended that the harvested crop be stored in cool and dry places.
